1 Overview

Converge AI ("we," "our," or "the app") is a group decision-making application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle data.

TL;DR — We collect minimal data, use anonymous authentication, don't sell your information, and don't track you across apps. Your group data stays between your group.

2 Data We Collect

Converge collects only the minimum data needed to provide the service:

  • Anonymous User ID — Generated automatically via Firebase Anonymous Authentication. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personally identifiable information.
  • Display Name — An optional name you choose to show other group members. This is stored only in your group's data.
  • Group Data — Group names, member lists, session preferences (interests, budget, distance, dietary restrictions), votes, and AI-generated suggestions.
  • Approximate Location — City or area-level location that you provide to help AI find nearby activities. We do not use GPS tracking or background location access.
  • Subscription Data — If you subscribe to Converge Pro, purchase information is handled entirely by Apple and RevenueCat. We receive only a subscription status indicator — no payment details.

3 How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to power the Converge experience:

  • AI Suggestions — Group preferences and location are sent to Google's Gemini AI to generate activity suggestions. This data is used only for the request and is not stored by the AI provider.
  • Voting & Decisions — Votes are tallied to determine the group's top choice.
  • Web Invites — When you invite friends via web link, their submitted preferences and votes are stored in the same group session data.

We never sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or third-party marketing platforms.

4 Third-Party Services

Converge uses the following third-party services:

  • Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database (Firestore), cloud functions, and hosting. Firebase Privacy Policy
  • Google Gemini AI — Powers AI-generated suggestions and decision reasoning. Data sent to the API is processed in real-time and not retained. Google AI Terms

5 Data Storage & Security

All data is stored in Google Cloud's Firebase infrastructure with enterprise-grade security:

  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Firestore security rules restrict access — group data is only accessible to group members
  • Anonymous authentication means no passwords to breach
  • We do not store data on your device beyond local app preferences (cached settings)

6 Data Retention & Deletion

You are in control of your data:

  • Delete a Group — Group creators can delete a group from the app, which removes all associated sessions, members, preferences, votes, and decisions.
  • Leave a Group — Members can leave a group at any time, removing their data from that group.
  • Delete Your Account — Since we use anonymous authentication, uninstalling the app effectively removes your local identity. Your data within groups will remain until the group is deleted by the creator.
  • Full Data Deletion Request — Contact us at support@convergeapp.co to request complete deletion of all data associated with your anonymous ID.

7 Web Participants

Friends who participate via web invite link:

  • Are identified by a randomly generated web user ID stored in their browser's localStorage
  • Provide only a display name and session preferences (no account creation)
  • Can clear their data by clearing browser storage or using a different browser
  • Their preference and vote data is stored only within the specific group session

8 Children's Privacy

Converge AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.

9 Analytics & Tracking

Converge does not use any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or cross-app tracking. We do not participate in the advertising identifier (IDFA) ecosystem. The app does not contain any ads.

10 Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
